Serger Essentials 101: A beginners guide how to use your serger
Participants must be 16 years or older 

Duration: This workshop is ONE, 3 hour session
Date: Thursday June 29th, 11:30am - 2:30pm
Cost: $55 + HST 

Level: Absolute Serger Beginner
Pre-requisite: Ideally you are comfortable threading and setting up a domestic sewing machine and have sewing machine skills.

Maximum number of Participants: 2

Learn how to use your serger with confidence and take your sewing skills to the next level! Whether you are sewing up garments or you enjoy sewing soft home furnishings and decor, serging your raw edges will create a beautiful & professional finished edge and protect fabric from fraying.

In this 3 hour session you will learn all about threading from scratch and the quick method, how to finish seams on woven fabrics, including curved edges & corners, join seams on knit fabrics, how to avoid common mistakes, diagnose and fix common seam issues, how to care for your machine and more!

Note: Please bring your own portable serger in good working order if you'd like to learn how to use it, otherwise we have one for you! 

Class materials / Supplies: 

Class fee includes remnant pieces of fabric to practice on, use of marking, measuring and cutting tools.    

*Please include your email address at checkout. A detailed supply list including fabric suggestions & other important information will be sent out to registered participants.

Bring your own fabrics and supplies or we have fabrics & notions available for purchase in the shop! Purchases made for your class will receive a 10% discount (before HST)

Our Class Policies:

Nesting Ground's classes are small and intimate to help ensure participants receive enough personalized attention to learn and complete a project by the end of the session. Participants must be a minimum of 16 yrs and must have completed our Learn to Sew Class OR have equivalent experience for workshops that require the use of a sewing machine. *Materials and supplies are not included in the class fee unless otherwise stated

NOTE: if you would like to learn how to use a sewing machine and learn to sew, but you are not able to attend a scheduled session, please send an email to info@nestingground.ca with days and times that you are available and I will follow up with you directly to make a date :)                

Payments & Cancellations:                                                                        

Register online or in person. Space is limited. To reserve your spot, all class fees must be paid for in full at time of registration. Please note, we do not issue refunds for missed classes. Cancellations or changes must be made 48 hours prior to your first class and we will happily issue a store credit towards another class. Cancellations made less than 48 hours of the class start date forfeit their fee entirely  

Covid-19 Policies

The health & safety of everyone who visits Nesting Ground continues to be a priority. Face masks that cover your nose and mouth are encouraged but are not mandatory. We ask that you continue to self screen and sanitize your hands before entering the shop. Hand sanitizer & sanitary wipes provided at the door
