Box Style Cushion with Piping: An Introduction to Upholstery Sewing
Duration: This workshop is two, 3 hour sessions
Date: Friday February 6th, 13th 6pm - 9pm

Learn to sew the infamous box cushion! From armchair seats, comfy sofa's, window seat cushions, to cozy oversized floor pillows, box style cushions create the foundation for a comfortable living space. If you are interested in sewing for home & tackling your own decor projects, this is the perfect workshop to get you started
In this 2 session workshop you will measure, cut, & assemble your custom box cushion complete with a zipper and option to do professional piped edge finish!
Make a 4" x 20" x 20" sample size
Pre-requisite: High Beginner / Intermediate. Must be comfortable threading and setting up sewing machine and have high beginner sewing machine skills.

Space is limited. Even though we are working online, class sizes will be kept small to ensure clear communication and personal support
NOTE: To ensure everyone receives high quality instruction within the amount of time designated for this workshop, all participants are asked to make the sample size during our time together.
I will review how to calculate fabric for different sizes as well as review foam and fill options at the end of our workshop.
✂️ Class materials / Supplies:
Fabric for your Box Cushion CoverQuality Cotton or Polyester Sewing Machine Thread 40w or 50w
Zipper tape
Measuring tape
Ruler
Marking tool (pencil, fabric chalk)
Fabric Scissors
Adequate surface area for measuring, marking, cutting fabric
Sewing Machine in good working order
*if you are going to pipe your cover, you will also need 1/4" piping cord and piping or welting foot for your sewing machine
NOTE:
*Please include your email address at checkout. A detailed supply list including fabric suggestions and quantity, as well as suggestions for piping and foot will be sent to all participants within 5 business days from time of registration. We meet in Zoom. Your class link will be sent one day before our start date.
Our Class Policies:
Nesting Ground's classes are small to help ensure participants receive enough personalized attention to learn and complete a project by the end of the session and foster a sense of community
Participants must be a minimum of 16 yrs and must have completed our Learn to Sew Class or have equivalent experience for workshops that require the use of a sewing machine.
*Materials and supplies are not included in the class fee unless otherwise stated
Payments & Cancellations:
Register online. Space is limited. To reserve your spot, all class fees must be paid for in full at time of registration. Please note, we do not issue refunds for missed classes. Cancellations or changes must be made 72 hours prior to your first class and we will happily issue a store credit towards another class. Cancellations made less than 72 hours of the class start date forfeit their fee entirely
