Cost: $45 +HST

Level: Advanced Beginner - Intermediate
Pre-requisite: must be comfortable threading and setting up sewing machine and have advanced-beginner level sewing machine skills.

NOTE: If you are an absolute beginner we offer a single Sewing Machine Basics session or Learn to Sew Series. Please visit our Workshops for more information and to register OR email info@nestingground.ca to request a date for either of these classes.

Let's make a hat! This is a great project for practicing sewing accurate curves, sewing layers of fabric, working with interfacing & accurate top stitching. I will walk you through the steps beginning with how to determine your crown size through to constructing your hat. Hat templates will be provided, saving you hours in pattern design time. You will leave with a stylish, fully lined, reversible bucket style hat. Perfect for all your outdoor adventures from hiking, time spent in the garden or an afternoon at the market. 

Note: Please bring your own portable machine in good working order or let us know if you would like us to provide one for you.

Fusible interfacing

This project is Fat Quarter friendly and a great project to dive into your fabric stash & remnants

Quality Cotton Sewing Machine Thread 40w or 50w
Fusible lining 44" wide (optional - this will depend on your fabric choice)

Bring your own fabrics and supplies or we have fabrics & notions available for purchase in the shop! Purchases made for your class will receive a 10% discount (before HST).

Our Class Policies:

Nesting Ground's classes are small and intimate to help ensure participants receive enough personalized attention to learn and complete a project by the end of the session. Participants must be a minimum of 16 yrs and must have completed our Learn to Sew Class OR have equivalent experience for workshops that require the use of a sewing machine. *Materials and supplies are not included in the class fee unless otherwise stated

Payments & Cancellations:                                                                       

Register online or in person. Space is limited. To reserve your spot, all class fees must be paid for in full at time of registration. Please note, we do not issue refunds for missed classes. Cancellations or changes must be made 48 hours prior to your first class and we will happily issue a store credit towards another class. Cancellations made less than 48 hours of the class start date forfeit their fee entirely  

Covid-19 & Mask Policy

Masks are no longer mandatory, however, the health & safety of everyone who visits Nesting Ground continues to be a priority. We ask that you continue to self screen and sanitize your hands before entering the shop. Hand sanitizer & sanitary wipes provided at the door.
