Duration: This workshop is 4 hours (with short break)

Cost: $45 +HST

Level: High Beginner - Intermediate
Pre-requisite: must be comfortable threading and setting up sewing machine and have high-beginner level sewing machine skills.

NOTE: If you are an absolute beginner we offer a single Sewing Machine Basics session or Learn to Sew Series. Please visit our Workshops for more information and to register OR email info@nestingground.ca to request a date for either of these classes.

Let's make a bucket hat! This is a great project for practicing sewing accurate curves, sewing layers of fabric, working with interfacing & accurate top stitching. I will walk you through the steps beginning with how to determine your crown size through to constructing your hat. Hat templates will be provided saving you hours in pattern design time. You will leave with a stylish, fully lined, reversible bucket hat. Perfect for all your outdoor adventures from hiking, a day out on the water, to an afternoon in the garden or at the market. 

Note: Please bring your own portable machine in good working order.

Use of marking, measuring and cutting tools needed to complete your project.

Outer Fabric 
Lining Fabric 
Fusible interfacing

This project is Fat Quarter friendly and a great project to dive into your fabric stash & remnants

Quality Cotton Sewing Machine Thread 40w or 50w
Fusible lining 44" wide (optional - this will depend on your fabric choice)

Bring your own fabrics and supplies or we have fabrics & notions available for purchase in the shop! Purchases made for your class will receive a 10% discount (before HST).

Our Class Policies:

Nesting Ground's classes are small and intimate to help ensure participants receive enough personalized attention to learn and complete a project by the end of the session. Participants must be a minimum of 16 yrs and must have completed our Learn to Sew Class OR have equivalent experience for workshops that require the use of a sewing machine. *Materials and supplies are not included in the class fee unless otherwise stated

Payments & Cancellations:                                                                       

Register online or in person. Space is limited. To reserve your spot, all class fees must be paid for in full at time of registration. Please note, we do not issue refunds for missed classes. Cancellations or changes must be made 48 hours prior to your first class and we will happily issue a store credit towards another class. Cancellations made less than 48 hours of the class start date forfeit their fee entirely

The health & safety of everyone who visits Nesting Ground continues to be a priority. Face masks that cover your nose and mouth are encouraged but are not mandatory. We ask that you continue to self screen, sanitize and wipe your hands with the sanitizer and wipes provided at the door before entering.
