Duration: This workshop is one, 3.5 hour session
Date: Saturday April 1st 11:30am - 3:00pm
Cost: $55 +HST

Level: High Beginner
Pre-requisite: must be comfortable threading and setting up sewing machine and have basic sewing machine skills. NOTE:  If you are an absolute beginner we offer a single Learn to Sew session or a Learn to Sew Series (the tote is included in the series!)

Maximum number of Participants: 4

If you are looking for a sewing project that will allow you to practice and build on your beginner sewing skills, this is it!

Build your sewing confidence and make a lined, one-of-a-kind, weekend tote bag! This workshop is designed for high-beginner, low- intermediate skill levels and is a great follow-up to our Basic Learn to Sew workshop reinforcing important skills you've just learned. This classic style tote is also the perfect stepping stone to bags, accessories, and even garment assembly.

Practice & Learn

We will review threading and sewing machine set-up, cutting, pinning, setting & following your seam allowance, accurate top stitching, & more! Leave the class with a minimal, yet stylish re-usable tote perfect for trips to the market, weekend outings, sew & craft dates...

Note: Please bring your own portable machine if you prefer to work with it, otherwise we have one for you! 

Class materials / Supplies: 

Class fee includes use of marking, measuring and cutting tools needed to complete your project.                                                                                                                                                       
Additional items required to complete your tote:

Outer Fabric 
Lining Fabric 
Shoulder Straps (optional - you can also use cotton webbing)
Quality Cotton or Polyester Sewing Machine Thread 40w or 50w


Our Class Policies:

Nesting Ground's classes are small and intimate to help ensure participants receive enough personalized attention to learn and complete a project by the end of the session. Participants must be a minimum of 16 yrs and must have completed our Learn to Sew Class OR have equivalent experience for workshops that require the use of a sewing machine. *Materials and supplies are not included in the class fee unless otherwise stated

Payments & Cancellations: 

Register online or in person. Space is limited. To reserve your spot, all class fees must be paid for in full at time of registration. Please note, we do not issue refunds for missed classes. Cancellations or changes must be made 48 hours prior to your first class and we will happily issue a store credit towards another class. Cancellations made less than 48 hours of the class start date forfeit their fee entirely  

Covid-19 Policies

The health & safety of everyone who visits Nesting Ground continues to be a priority. Face masks that cover your nose and mouth are encouraged but are not mandatory. We ask that you continue to self screen, sanitize and wipe your hands with the sanitizer and wipes provided at the door.
