Bring Your Own Occasional Chair or Project!

Friday evening upholstery series for beginners!  Start with a small project. See details below: 

There is something really special about restoring an upholstered piece of furniture. If you have wanted to tackle your own re-upholstery project but weren't sure how to begin, this is the perfect series for you. 

Duration: This series is four, 3 hour sessions

Date: Friday November 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd 6pm - 9:30pm 
Cost: $200 + HST 
Level: Beginner / no experience necessary 

Maximum number of Participants: 4

**Important Note: your chair or project must be pre-approved prior to registration. I want you to be successful and my goal is to help you complete your project by the end of the workshop. Please see details below.

Class materials / Supplies: 

*Class fee includes personalized instructions specific to your project, use of pneumatic staple gun, staples, hand tools, sewing machine, twine, adhesive and hot glue

*common supplies such as foam, polyester batting, cotton batting, muslin, jute webbing, burlap, welt cord etc are available for purchase in store if needed

*Bring your own appropriate amount of Upholstery Fabric for your project (I can advise on this). Or Nesting Ground has a small selection of suitable upholstery weight fabrics available for purchase in store

BEFORE Registration: please email photos of front, side and back view of your occasional chair or project and include LxW measurements of the inside back rest and seat area to info@nestingground.ca for approval

Once your project has been pre-approved, register to reserve your place & please include your email address at checkout. A detailed supply list will be sent out to registered participants including fabric suggestions and how much fabric you will need

Suitable chairs & projects for this class include: 
  1. An upholstered seat and back
  2. No arms or open arms with minimal or no padding
  3. Simple backs (a few buttons are ok)
  4. Large Dining chair
  5. Piano stool
  6. Footstool 
  7. Drop in seats 
  8. Small nursing chair 
  9. small to medium occasional chair
  10. small to medium arm chair or small wing back chair

Not permitted: Oversized pieces, 2 seaters or sofas, projects with major foundation issues, channeling, attached cushions or significant style changes

Our Class Policies:

Nesting Ground's classes are small and intimate to help ensure participants receive enough personalized attention to learn and complete a project by the end of the session

Participants must be a minimum of 18yrs for our re-upholstery sessions and must have completed our Learn to Sew Class or have equivalent experience for workshops that require the use of a sewing machine

*Materials and supplies are not included in the class fee unless otherwise stated

Payments & Cancellations:                                                                                        Register online or in person. Space is limited. To reserve your spot, all class fees must be paid for in full at time of registration. Please note, we do not issue refunds for missed classes. Cancellations or changes must be made 48 hours prior to your first class and we will happily issue a store credit towards another class. Cancellations made less than 48 hours of the class start date forfeit their fee entirely  

Covid-19 & Mask Policy

Masks are no longer mandatory, however, the health & safety of everyone who visits Nesting Ground continues to be a priority. We ask that you continue to self screen and sanitize your hands before entering the shop. Hand sanitizer & sanitary wipes provided at the door.
